ZF PowerLine 8AP1075 (TorqueFlite HD) 8-Speed Automatic

Paired with: Ram 2500-3500, 6.7L Cummins (all trim levels, replacing the 68RFE)

Introduced for the 2025 model year across the whole Ram HD/Cummins lineup, replacing the 68RFE outright (the Aisin AS69RC option is also gone). Co-developed by ZF, Cummins, and Ram engineers from ZF's commercial-truck PowerLine platform, it is a torque-converter 8-speed built specifically for commercial-vehicle duty, with a stated capacity far beyond what a 2500/3500 pickup needs.

Strengths

• Built from ZF's PowerLine commercial-truck transmission family rather than adapted from a lighter-duty unit; ZF describes it as the only torque-converter-equipped 8-speed automatic engineered specifically for commercial vehicle use.
• Stated gross capacity up to 57,000 lb, far beyond a 2500/3500 pickup's own ratings, which suggests generous headroom versus the 68RFE it replaces.
• Directly replaces the 68RFE, a transmission with a well-documented list of factory weak points (see that profile), across every trim rather than being reserved for high-output trucks the way the Aisin AS69RC was.
