The 6.0L/6.4L-era successor to the S6-650, sharing the same basic ZF 6-speed heavy-truck design philosophy but built for the newer engines' torque. It was the last manual transmission available in a Super Duty before Ford dropped the option entirely for the 6.7L generation.
Strengths
- Same purpose-built heavy-truck design lineage as the S6-650: fully synchronized, dual-cone synchronizers on the most-used gears, and a lightweight integrated aluminum case.
Known weaknesses
