Heavy Duty badging began in 1997. There was no 1998 model year F-250 or F-350 pickup with the 7.3L Power Stroke: the ninth-generation heavy-duty trucks ended after 1997, the 1998 F-250 Light Duty was a gas-only F-150 derivative, and the Super Duty arrived as a 1999 model.
